Essay Contest

POP's annual essay contest is designed to showcase and hone students' writing skills, ignite their passion for creation, and encourage them to demonstrate their sensitivity to language and unique perspective on writing. This is more than just a competition; it is an opportunity for students to showcase what they have learned in class, practice their academic talents, and take a solid step forward on their writing journey

The contest process is as follows:

In August, POP's teaching and research team proposes the annual contest arrangement. Starting in September, the entire team begins brainstorming topics, determining the rules, requirements, considerations, division of labor, and evaluation criteria for the year's contest.

From October, teachers will spend part of six classes guiding students on selecting themes, discussing ideas, designing structures, writing excellent hooks, and drafting early versions of their essays. Students will then revise their essays based on the evaluation rubric, submit them, and receive preliminary feedback from teachers. Based on this feedback, students will edit their drafts in rounds until they are satisfied with their final submission. The judging panel will then score students from each grade group, provide feedback, rank the entries, and send emails to parents and children to report the contest results.

Each step is carefully designed to improve students' writing abilities and foster their love for writing. Teachers will provide professional guidance throughout the process, helping students from theme selection, brainstorming, structuring their essays, to revising and polishing, sparing no effort.
